THANK YOU

Election day was a very hard day and it was tough getting up the next morning. God is in control, and it is sometimes hard to accept that His ways are higher than ours. But he is the Great Creator, and we are called to do nothing but glorify and sanctify Him. I am mostly broken hearted for my supporters who believed in our mission and cause. I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who supported our campaign for the Board of Supervisors. To our volunteers who knocked doors, engaged neighbors, and to every voter who trusted in our vision, from the bottom of my heart……… THANK YOU!!

This campaign was always about more than winning an election—it was about raising important issues for our community: transparency, increasing citizen awareness, and aligning fiscal management with the wishes of the community.  I’m proud of the conversations we started and believe the momentum we built will continue to serve JCC for years to come. My hope is that the light we shined on the happenings around the county will continue to grow and decrease the darkness that has become commonplace in the political arena.

My heart breaks for my four small children who, with tears in their eyes, watched their father come up short in his endeavors to be a leader in the community. But as Thomas Wayne once said “Why do we fall??? So that we can learn to pick ourselves back up!” I have instilled in them since birth that we never LOSE, we only LEARN. And it is in the pit of the hottest fires where the strongest steel is forged.  So with that I will pick myself up by the bootstraps and press forward. Thank you again to EVERYONE who believed in me.

Meet John Slokovitz

Grounded in solid work ethics and family traditions, John is the founder and CEO of JCR Plumbing and More.  A Class A contractor with Master Plumber and Gas Fitter Licenses, John has been serving residents and businesses in the greater Williamsburg area since 2018.

John, his wife Mary, and their four children live in the Windsor Forrest neighborhood of the Jamestown District, where their children attend James City County public schools.

John is a graduate of Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History, minoring in Business Administration.  With hard work and perseverance, John has mastered his craft for over 25 years, and is a highly-rated contractor who improves, renovates, and provides innovative solutions for his customers.

He is an active community volunteer.  John enjoys coaching his children and their teammates in wrestling and baseball and cheering them on in Ninja Warrior competitions.  Additionally, he lends his time to his church and neighbors.

John is concerned with the very large JCC budget and impending assumption of debt.  He believes it’s time to replace board members who routinely vote for higher property taxes, increased local taxes, and bigger budgets.

Now, John is running to represent the people of the Jamestown District on the James City County Board of Supervisors where he will be a NEW, STRONG, ACTIVE voice.  He supports low taxes, reducing government waste, and fiscal responsibility and will work tirelessly to improve the lives of all the families in James City County.

As your Supervisor, I’ll work every day to:

  •   Improve financial management and debt control

You’re probably aware the county has been going in a “tax, borrow, and spend” direction.  JCC is on a path to assume over $500 million in debt – and that will be felt by tens of thousands of families across our community.  We need to change that so our children and parents can afford to live here.

  • Make JCC a Leader in educating our children

We’ve grown too passive in how we connect with the Williamsburg City Council and WJCC School Board.  It’s time to refocus on student outcomes—because every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, right here at home.  While the Board of Supervisors doesn’t make school policy it needs to have a solid working relationship with these boards.

  • Make JCC a new Business Friendly Zone

Mary and I co-founded our small business, and I don’t just support private enterprise – I live it every day.  Let's aim higher than simply mirroring what every other locality offers.  Corporate America has its place, but we must also encourage unique, locally rooted businesses that reflect our community’s values and character.  We’ll build an environment that welcomes new and unique businesses by constantly reviewing our policies, processes, and taxes.
